OPENING NIGHT EVENT
Fri 9 June, 6pm-8ppm
Artists: Karlijn Sas, Jacqueline Betsy Lord, Francisca Verwoert
Showcasing recent work by three local artists, this exhibition gives us an opportunity to get together during the first 'King's Birthday' weekend, ahead of the winter solstice.
Jacqueline Betsy Lord is a Skenes Creek North based artist, making jewellery using vintage glass and precious metals in the Gadubanud Country of the Otways. Her work gets stocked by Boom Gallery in Geelong and Arbor Brunswick.
Sisca Verwoert is a Marengo based artist working in oils on canvas. Her painting springs together elements of the Otway Ranges with a heightened colour palette. Sisca’s work gets exhibited at Qdos Arts Gallery in Lorne.
Karlijn Sas is an Apollo Bay based artist working in acrylic and gold leaf on board. She uses colours that the human visual system adjusts when there are changes in illumination, causing every individual to see the colours in her artwork slightly differently.
Date: 06/05/23 to 07/05/23
Artist: Vair Buchanan
Vair is a Melbourne-based illustrator and writer who has spent the past fortnight in Marengo as an artist-in-residence.
Vair's intention was to create a series of paintings depicting the native flora of Marengo, but when the birds came to visit she felt compelled to draw them instead. That is the unpredictable nature of creative inspiration.
Vair's bird series are ink and watercolour paintings on vintage rag paper.

Artist: Chris Tuttle
Chris Tuttle works principally with digital image-making techniques, producing images that document a passion for exploring the improbable terrain of the imagination. The exhibition ‘Digital Works on Paper’ presents a selection of digital collages that sit at a threshold point between what might have been and what is to be. They are moments of time brought into the now as still-frames wrestled from the continuous cinema of the imagination.
